Preliminary Task - script

Alice: where have you been? why have you been coming home so late? well....
Harry: I don't know what to say
Alice: why! i can't believe you

Both Say night

*alices dream

Alice: what? (confused) and asks Kane if he knows what date it is?

Kane: tells her the date and asks why.

Alice: very confused and upset and shouts for harry. alice then wakes up from the dream still shouting for Harry.

Harry: what?

Alice: i just had the worst dream!

Plot outline;

Married couple arguing (Kennedy & Malcolm) Alice goes to her room and reads her favourite book about the events of the 1940’s. After she calms down she takes a walk by herself and see’s a 1940’s car drive past and realises that she’s in a completely different time. Harry comes up to Alice and asks where a address is, but Alice just looks at him confused As he is dressed in old fashioned clothes. Alice persuades Harry that she is from a different time and misses her husband so Harry helps her get back to the 21^st century before she is stuck there forever.

This shot shows Alice reading her book at the very opening of the clip, the shot type is a slight crane as it is high above the character and you can see her full body but it isn't as high as a normal crane also we do not have the equipment for that. There will be some editing when she is reading and the lighting will be darker as if its in a bedroom. The timing for this shot is 2 seconds as its at the beginning of the clip.

This frame shows Alice and Harry having a disagreement as they do not have a lot of money at the moment and has come home telling alice about him losing his job today. This is a two person shot but during this clip there will be some editing to do shot reverse shot, so we may film each character saying there lines then edit them together. The timing for this will be about 45 secs 

This is where the agreement gets a more serious and violence is used when alice gets really angry with harry. This is also a two person shot but we will also use a behind the shoulder shot so you can see each of the characters emotes while arguing with the person they love.  The timing for this will be another 30 seconds.

This is when alice goes back in time to the 40's and is walking through town and bumps into a boy called Kane, alice thinks se is still married to Harry but they haven't even met yet. this is a two person mid shot of the two strangers talking. The timing for this will be 

This is where Alice gets very confused about her surroundings and then asks for todays date and Kane shows Alice his newspaper. Alice is in shock and is very upset about the argument that she had with her boyfriend Harry. this is a two person shot but also shows you the characters emotion/expressions. The timing for this will be

this is where Alice goes to have a walk and consider and think about what she has just found out. here we have gone back in time to the 1940s and she is trying to find her boyfriend harry to sort things out.here we have a long shot which allows a person to see the whole of Alice's body as well as her body language. 

Research into camerawork

Extreme close up;

This camera shot is used to show emotion and to get an insight to how the character is feeling, also it can be used to show detail in the face if it can be used to foreshadow something that may happen later to do with the facial features. This shot doesn't have anything going on in the background so therefore you are made to focus on the close up that is being shown to you, also you may notice other details in an extreme close up rather than just a normal close up.

Big close up;

This shot is used to show other details on the face and in the hair, it helps you to recognise that person and you can see what makes them different from others again this shot is used to show their emotion but as you can see all over the face you will be able to recognise the emotion not just whether they're happy or sad or whether they're anxious, angry, excited because you can see new details compared to just an extreme close up.

Close up;

This is a shot that is taken up close usually used on an actors face and is used to show an actors facial expression or to focus on an object in detail. usually used to show an actors emotion in a more detailed way.you get to see things that you wouldn't notice from a long shot so there fore discover things that you would not have noticed before which may help you to emotionally understand a film a lot better.

Medium close up;

This shot is used to see an actors facial expression but also shows the actors body language, it is also good to distinguish what genre the film could be, as you can see the actors clothing. this shot is used a lot in films usually to show interaction between two actors.

Medium long shot;

This shot is similar to a medium close up as it is used to show the audience the actors facial expression and body language. this shot shows the audience what is around the actor and also gives them an idea of what is going on in the film. 

Very long shot/Establishing shot;

This shot is used to show the full length of the character from a long distance it could generally be used in a busy street and they're at the front of the crowd to show the power or authority of them. Also it could be used to show the surrounding area and you can see how comfortable they are in the area depending on who is around and what area they are in, as if they are in a busy street with people they don't know they character may just wonder around but they will act a different way around people they know in a known environment and you can see all that through this shot.

Two shot;

This shot is used to show two people and how they act around each other, it can show their relationship, friendship and how comfortable they are around each other. You can also see their emotion and how it is linked together and can see both actors body language.

High angle shot;

This shot is used generally to show the undermining height of the character and how it can make them feel to have someone of a higher authority tower over them, this would usually be used in films when a parent is talking to their child or if the actor is getting looked down on.

Over the shoulder shot;

This shot is generally used in a conversation it shows the audience two people that are talking to each other and shows the actors facial expression while talking or listening to the other actor, it shows someones perspective and shows the audience what the actor is looking at you can also see things from their point of view.

Canted angle;

This shot is used to show a full view of the character however gives a unusual slanted view that can create confusion to the audience.
